The 10 Questions Your Clients Ask AI, and How to Check Your Answers

By Kate Bakker · October 2026 · 7 min read

The short answer

Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the 10 questions below for your service and city, in a fresh session, and write down who gets named. Count how many of the 30 answers name your business. That number is your starting AI Visibility Score, and the pattern behind it tells you what to fix first.

What are the 10 questions?

Swap in your own service, city and business name. Use the words your clients actually use.

  1. Who is the best [service] in [city]?
  2. What's the best [type of business] near [neighborhood]?
  3. Who is the most trusted [provider type] in [city]?
  4. Where should I get [treatment] in [city]?
  5. Which [type of business] in [city] has the best reviews?
  6. Who does natural-looking [treatment] near [city]?
  7. What's the best [type of business] in [city] for [a specific need, like first-timers]?
  8. Is [your business name] good for [service]?
  9. [Your business name] or [competitor name]: which is better for [service]?
  10. Which [type of business] near [city] [takes my insurance / offers financing / has appointments this week]?

How do you run the check?

  1. Start fresh. Use a private or logged-out window so past searches don't shape the answers.
  2. Ask all three. Run every question in ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Perplexity. That's 30 answers.
  3. Record each answer. Mark it named first, named, mentioned or missing, and write down who was named instead.
  4. Note the sources. Perplexity and Google often show where an answer came from. Save those links.
  5. Repeat monthly. Same questions, same way, so you can see what's changing.

How do you score it?

Count the answers that name your business. Out of 30, that's your AI Visibility Score. It's simple on purpose: one number you can track month over month, and the same measure we use in every AI Visibility Snapshot.

What do your results tell you?

Questions about checking your AI answers

Why do my results change from day to day?

AI answers vary with timing, location and wording. That's why you run the same questions the same way each month and look at the trend, not one answer.

What's a good score?

It depends on your market and how competitive it is. What matters most is the direction: more of the 30 answers naming you each quarter.

Can someone run this check for me?

Yes. Our complimentary AI Visibility Snapshot runs it for your business and sends a one-page report with a video walkthrough within 24 hours.
